Info Guide to Credit Card Terminals & Check Readers

Debit PIN Pads

PIN pads, also called debit keypads, are used to enable debit (as opposed to credit) card transactions at the time of sale, and allow an alternative form of payment for your customers. These devices consist of a simple numeric keypad that allows the customer to securely enter their bank PIN number to complete the purchase. Some PIN pads are integrated with a credit card terminal, while others are separate units that are placed on the checkout counter - thus keeping the credit card terminal safely behind the counter.

PIN pad units employ strong encryption and other security technology measures to ensure that a customer's PIN information is kept secure and free from tampering with. Dual units are also available that combine credit and debit card transaction functionality, where the customer selects either Credit or Debit on the unit.
